Vs Honest limpers At LESS Than 18 BB Flashcards
vs Limpers when less than 18Bb
What is a simple but effective strategy vs limpers at this stack size
All in or fold.
This is less profitable than a compicated strategy, but is still reasonably effective and will make you difficult to play against.
Vs Limpers at less than 18BB
What adjustments do you make to your preflop strategy in terms of raises and calls ?
A raise+ cbet is now a huge chunk of your stack, so you an “All in or Fold” strategy becomes more and more sensible.
The shorter the stack, the more it is “All in or fold”.
JL thinks 12bb is about the break point.
Vs Limpers with less than 18Bb, when the limper in EP
What should you consider?
How much should you raise to ?
What should you fold?
Play cautiously as many people have yet to act (and the limper knows this!)
At 12BB+ you can afford to raise to 4BB
But at less than 12BB you are in “All in or fold” mode
Fold your weaker/marginal preflop hands if you think you will be raised - not good implied odds
Vs limpers at fewer than 18BB , you are in MP
What should you take into account?
What do you do if he has a wide range? What range would you do this with?
What if they tend to call ?
Take the initial limpers range into account before considering options.
If he limps with a wide range that will fold to an all in, then a push with ATo+, A9s+, pairs , and T9s or better ⬅️⬆️ might be ok.
If they will call an all in, however, you should only shove if you have their range beat.
Vs limpers with fewer than 18BB
What is the main factor in determining the profitability of a shove.
The main factor is how often you get called.
If they are a calling station, an all-in becomes less attractive, so you may wish to play tight and just crush their range.
Vs honest limpers at fewer than 18BB, and you are in LP
What adjustments do you make due to their range?
What size should you use if you think they may fold to a cbet?
As their range widens, and there will be less people to react…so its possible you may be able to shove wider.
Sometimes a 4BB bet is better though, if you beleive they may fold to a cbet.
Vs honest limpers at less than 18BB and you are in the SB
Try to figure out ….?
Try to figure out whether the priority is to see a cheap flop OR is it to win the pot preflop.
If you do not think you have fold equity & that they play postflop poorly, then you can call with a wide range….perhaps as wide as 50%…but still raise your absolute premium cards (99+)
Vs honest limpers at fewer than 18BB, you are in thE BB
How should you react in almost all circmstances?
If you can see a cheap flop, do so UNLESS
- You have a genuinely premium hand
- You are very confident they will fold to either a 4BB raise, or an all in.
