Limped Pots Flashcards

Limped pots

Where are these common?

What do the players typicallly want?

What should we have?

What is it ok to do? What is your MDF?

A

These are common with bad opponents at small stakes, or the very best players at high stakes (who you will not meet)

At small stakes they “want to see the flop with nonsense”.

We should often have limped behind with decent hands that flop well.

It is ok to lose these pots often - it will still be profitable due to SPR.

Thr mdf can often be low as the raises postflop are often large (compared to the pot) and may be divided against multiple players.

Q

Limped pots - facing a a bet

What adjustment to the bet response flow chart do you use?

A

Use the bet response flowchart BUT you will usually not have nut advantage…

…so therefore you raise INFREQUENTLY , and should normally check/call.

Q

Limped MULTIWAY pots

How do you react with each category of hand, when it checks to you?

What exploits might be possible?

What about MDF?

A

When it checks to you..
—Premium = value bet less often as they may have a hand.
—Draws = Bet/ fold less hands (i.e. bluff less often) ..someone may well call or raise. You therefore want to bet draws that you wont fold to a raise.
—Marginal = check/call with fewer hands (say, middle pair +, depending on flop)
—Junk = fold.

Exploits: if they are weak players, attack.

Mdf is spread amoungst you all = you dont have to defend as often
