Ballots

Profile
For a set of voters, specifies the ballot selected by each voter
Condorcet Winner
If the elected winner is the maximum of the majority ordering.
wins all one vs one scenarios
Plurality Rule
Each voter selects one candidate and the candidate with the most votes wins
–> not condorcet consistent
Borda Count
Ranking Method
Scoring Rule: calculates scores based on weights assigned to ranking
Each voter ranks candidates with points from 0 to n
To calculate borda score (BS) multiple each score with the number of voters who gave that score and add up.
–> not condorcet consistent
Plurality Rule
Assigns 1 point to first ranked candidates and 0 to all others (similar to kth rank Voting)
Plurality with Runoff
If there is no majority winner –> runoff between top two candidates or more if there are ties
Multistage method,
successively removing candidates if there is no majority for one.
Approval Voting
Each voter selects a subset of approved candidates
Winner is candidate with most approvals
–> can elect Condorcet winner or loser
