Emergency Repairs Defined:
- All accident repairs that require immediate attention.
- Repairs which are required at the scene of a large-scale emergency.
- The repair of any vehicle that has been placed out of service because of needed repair.
- The repair of any item or part which if not repaired could:
–a. Result in injury to persons or damage to equipment, or could decrease the operating efficiency of the vehicle to a dangerous level.
–b. Prevent an emergency vehicle from making an emergency response.
–c. Cause the vehicle to operate in violation of any law.

MODIFICATION AND ALTERATION OF APPARATUS - Final approval is required by the __________

Apparatus shall only be towed in the following circumstances:
A. The apparatus cannot be operated safely. B. The apparatus cannot be operated legally. C. A request for field repair has been denied or the field mechanic is unable to repair the apparatus.

Air and oxygen cylinders shall be secured against movement during normal transportation. 5. Pick-up trucks need shipping papers if they carry five hundred (500) pounds or more of cylinders. If carrying one thousand (1,000) pounds or more of cylinders, the vehicle needs appropriate placards.

The following procedure shall be used when ordering map prints:
A. 800’ Scale Map Book Pages or Standard First-In Maps
First-In and 800’ scale pages are updated periodically with boundary changes and/or updates to data.
- 1 – 10 copies total – Forward a GIS request form to GIS in person, via e-mail or fax.
- 11 or more copies – Forward a GIS request form, approved by a Captain or above, to GIS in person, via e-mail or fax.
B. Complete 800’ Scale Books
- Forward a GIS request form, approved by a Captain or above, to GIS in person, via e-mail or fax.
C. Mounted Panels & Roller Maps
- Forward a GIS request form, approved by a Station Commander, to GIS in person, via e-mail or fax. A signature from all 3 Station Commanders is required if requesting a new map or changing the map area of an existing map. Otherwise, only one Captain’s signature is required for exact replacement of an existing map.
NOTE: Mounted panels may take several months to complete.
D. Other Special Maps (As needed by requestor and subject to availability of GIS)
- Forward a GIS request form to GIS in person, via e-mail or fax.
Examples of special maps include: swift water rescue, evacuation, earthquake routes, etc.
E. Thomas Guide Atlas - New or replacement, subject to stock on hand.
- Forward a GIS request form, approved by a Captain or above, to GIS in person, via e-mail or fax.
NOTE: Thomas Guide Atlases are no longer published annually. Rand McNally now uses version numbers and issues new versions as needed.
F. Assessors maps can be obtained or updated by contacting the Brush Clearance Unit
