They erupt frequently but are not very violent
Their lava is basaltic with low silicate and gas levels. The lava is thin, runny and low viscous
They are gentle sloping with a wide base

They don’t erupt frequently but are violent
Their lava is andesitic with high silicate and gas levels. The lava is thick and high viscous
The are steep with a narrow base
