When magma intrudes into the earths crust and cools below the surface.
What is an extrusive volcano?
When lava erupts onto earths surface.
What is an active volcano?
Volcano that erupts fairly regularly along active plate boundaries.
What is a Dormant volcano?
A volcano that has not erupted for many years but scientists are not sure if they are extinct yet.
What are extinct volcanoes?
Volcanoes that are but expected to erupt ever again.
What is a cinder cone volcano?
A steep sided volcano made of cinder and ash .
Associated with violent eruptions.
What is a shield volcano?
A gently sloping volcano made up of very fluid lava.
What is a lava dome?
A small mass of thick, vicious lava solidifies, close to the vents to form a dome shape.
What is a composite volcano?
Made of alternating layers of Ash, Cinda and lava.
What are negative impacts of volcanoes
- lava can burn and berry plants and buildings.
Ash can also cover buildings and plants
People can die when they breathe in poisonous gas and ash
Love a bombs can kill or injured people .
What are positive impacts of volcanoes?
Ash fertilizes the soil
Hot Springs and geezers attract tourists
Geothermal electricity .
