An active vocation is the life lived by religious orders who work in society as well as praying.

A contemplative vocation is a life of prayer and meditation lived by some religious orders.
How do Christians use the term vocation?
The term means a that belief that all Christians are individually called to become a follower of God.
What does ‘having a vocation’ mean to Christians?
It specifically refers to those called to the priesthood and religious life.
What is commanded to most of the Christian faith about life?
To have a wife, a family and to raise them in Christian beliefs.
How does God call us?
Some say that God calls us directly the way he called the boy Samuel in the Old Testament. Although some try to find God’s will themselves.
What do Christians believe about their work?
They believe it should reflect their commitment to Christ and should imitate what he did.
What else do Christians believe about their work?
They also believe it is a matter of skills which God has bestowed upon us for a reason. For example, if we are good at communicating, then we could become teacher.
What does vocation mean?
The word vocation means a calling or an invitation.
