Demands placed on the voice when singing:
- producing rapid changes in frequency, intensity, and sound duration
- originally developed as a method of vocal training for singers and actors in the 1890s
- believed that the mind and body functioned as an integrated entity, a rather unusual realization at the time
- technique deals with the psychophysical coordination of the whole person
Alexander Technique
- synthesizes information from physics, motor development, biomechanics, psychology, and martial arts to develop an application demonstrating the lack of separation between thought, feeling, eprception, and action
- teaches singers to improve problems of tension, muscle strain, and illness in order to obtain optimal vocal performance
Feldenkrais Method
Uses 13 vocal exercises to establish control over a specific structure of the vocal mechanism, in isolation, by moveing the structure through a number of positions
