Pour distinguer une vraie question d’une fausse question (chez un ami qui nous a invités)

Ici, il s’agit d’une question polie. La personne qui la pose est sûre que l’autre personne va répondre positivement. Il emploie SOME.

✅️ « Is there ANY coffee left » ?
Ici le locuteur ne connaît pas la réponse, il s’agit d’une vraie demande d’information. Il faut donc employer ANY.

➡️ On utilise SOME, ANY et NO pour former des pronoms indéfinis qui suivent les mêmes règles.

  • something => quelque chose
  • anything => quelque chose (question) / rien (négation), n’importe quoi
  • somebody, someone => quelqu’un
  • anybody, anyone => n’importe qui
  • nobody, no one => personne
  • somewhere, anywhere => quelque part, n’importe où
  • nowhere => nulle part

➡️ Dans les phrases affirmatives ANY exprime l’idée de’ n’importe’

✅️ anybody can do it => n’importe qui peut le faire.
✅️ anything goes => n’importe quoi fera l’affaire.
✅️ take me anywhere => emmenez-moi n’importe où.

➡️ Ils se construisent avec un verbe au singulier mais le pronom qui s’y réfère est au pluriel :
