Cognition
Mental processes that take place in the brain ( thinking, attention, language, learning, memory and perception )
Confirmation Bias
The human tendency to only seek out information that supports one position or idea
Belief Perseverance
The tendency for people to hold their beliefs as true, even when there is ample evidence to discredit the belief.
Theory
An untested hunch, or a guess without supporting evidence
Heuristics
Mental shortcuts for solving problems in a quick way that delivers a result that is sufficient enough to be useful given time
Mental Sets
A tendency to only see solutions that have worked in the past
Algorithms
A procedure used for solving a problem
Fixation
The inability to see a problem from a new perspective, by employing a different mental set
Insight
The understanding of a relationship between current thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors and where these originated or how they are maintained.
