Sacrament
Are effective signs of grace that were instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church. They are the means by which divine life is dispensed to us.

Apocalypse
A divine intervention against evil forces and the establishment of a reign of goodness and peace. It means “revelation” or “unveiling.”

Ecumenical Councils
Are gatherings of bishops from around the world, convened under the authority of the pope, to address matters of doctrine and Church governance.

Early Christian writings refer to a group of texts believed to have been written by people who were either associated with or knew the New Testament apostles.
Apologists
Defenders of Christianity and the Church who seek to demonstrate the rationality and validity of the faith. Someone who explains the faith.
Docetism
An early Christian doctrine that suggests Christ’s sufferings were not real but only appeared to be, and after the crucifixion, he appeared in a spiritual body.
Theotokos
This title emphasizes that Jesus is one Divine Person and Mary is truly the “Mother of God.”
Vulgate
St. Jerome translated the Bible into Latin in the fifth century AD, making it accessible to the common people who spoke that language.
Sanctify
The act of designating something for exclusive use or purpose in the service of God.
Efficacious
Sacraments are religious rituals that are believed to bring spiritual blessings or grace to those who participate in them. They have an effect.
