Whats the difference between growth & development?
growth: change in physical size (height, weight, head circumference)
development: a qualitative increase in capability or function (tasks)
Whats the difference between cephalocaudal and proximodistal?
cephalocaudal: growth following an orderly pattern from the head downward (head control before control over hands & legs)
proximodistal: growth starts in the center and progresses outward (child picking up a bottle with its arms and not its fingers or hands)
