what are the causes of vitreous haemrrhage
A
Acute posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), a/w either a retinal tear or avulsion of a peripheral vessel
Proliferative retinopathy (2’ to neovascularisation) (spontaneous rupture of abnormal vessels)
- Diabetic (PDR)
- Retinal vein occlusion (RVO), e.g. ischaemic CRVO
- Sickle cell disease
Miscellaneous retinal disorders
- Macroaneurysm
- Telangiectasia
- Capillary haemangioma
Trauma (rupture of normal vessels)
Systemic
- Bleeding disorders
- Terson syndrome (refers to the combination of intraocular and subarachnoid haemorrhage secondary to intracranial aneurysmal rupture)

- Fundoscopy
- Slit lamp*
- B scan U/S
- CT brain (TRO intracranial aneurysm rupture)
