beriberi wenicke-korsakoff – Beriberi loss of sensation and weakness to peripheries – Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (ALCOHOLICS) = has ataxi uncoordinated movements psychosis And sensory changes • Only seen in alcoholics b/c no vitamins in alcohol First thing we see when are treating someone who is an intoxication- assess if they are breathing. Give them IV fluids, normal saline, multivitamin and extra thiamin into that bag because we know they need it “banana bag”.
