Q

what are the right of way rules?

A
    1. best way to describe it is the aircraft with the least amount of maneuverability will be given the right of way. aircraft and helicopters are given the last priority in regards to right of way.
  1. Distressed aircrafts
  2. ballons
  3. gliders
  4. airships
  5. aircraft towing
  6. airplanes and helicopters.

Q

What are the different types of vestibular illusions?

A
  1. The Leans: a sudden turn to level flight to a gradual prolonged turn. so the fluid in our ears levels out with the bank so when we get into straight and level we will think we are in the
  2. The graveyard spiral is an extension of the leans where a pilot remains in the gradual turn.
  3. Coriolis illusion: moving your head back in forth too quickly
  4. Somatagravic Illusion: rapid changes in speed throws the head back and forth

16
Q

What is a false horizon?

A

aligning oneself with the aperant horizon… getting over it through trusting your instruments

17
Q

What is autokenisis?

A

the brain creating images that are not there.

18
Q

What are runway and width illusions.

A

with a narrow runway we will feel either further or higher than what you actually are.
a wider runway will make us feel lower and closer

19
Q

sloping runway illusions

A

upslope we will be lower; down slope we will feel higher

20
Q

featureless terrain visual illusions?

A

ussually happens when we can not see the details of a mountain or building due to haze so we feel further away

21
Q

Lighting illusions

A

because the runway is so bright we feel closer than we really are.
