Q

What are the benefits of a horizontally opposed engine?

A

Have an even number of engines, ussually air cooled, and horizontal, high power to weight…. create little drag

Q

What is the induction system is ours carbureted?

A

We have a carburated system… so the air passes through the air inlet it passes through a venturi and air velocity increases and the there is a fuel and air float chamber…

15
Q

how does carb heat work

A

turn on carb heat, we will lose power significantly, then as it melts the engine power will come back up a little bit. then turn it off and the power will return.

16
Q

how many spark plugs does the plane have?

A

8 spark plugs

17
Q

how many magnetos do you have?

A
  1. they are magnets that spin and create a spark.
18
Q

are the magnetos connected?

A

they are independent of one another.

19
Q

once the engine is running do the mags stop?

A

they do not and they will continue to power the aircraft.

20
Q

What does the oil system do?

A

lubricates, cleans, seals, and cools

21
Q

do we have a dry or wet pump system?

A

We have a wet pump system

22
Q

What type of cooling system do we have?

A

We have an air cooled engine… happens through air inlet on the cowling

23
Q

Do we have a fuel pump system?

A

Yes we do. have an engine driven pump and an electrical pump.

24
Q

What fuel grades can we use?

A

100 octane and 100LL. green and blue. when mixed become clear.

25
What is our heating system?
Exhaust heating system... which means air passes over the exhaust. can lead to c02 poisoning if there are cracks.
26
how big is our electrical system?
28-volt system. battery backup
27
what type of breaking system do we use?
Hydralic break and disc... fluid is red, dries black.
28
what type of landing gear do we have?
tricycle landing gear. nose and two mains.
