LINE
geometric or organic area that stands out from the space next to or around it, because of differences in value, color or texture

SHAPE
the degree of light and dark in a design
contrast between black and white and all the tones in between
VALUE
way a surface feels or is perceived to feel
illusion of the surface’s peaks and valleys, resulting in a feeling of smoothness or roughness in objects
TEXTURE
determined by its hue (name), intensity (purity of hue), and value (lightness or darkness)
used for emphasis, or may elicit emotions from viewers
COLOR
a figure having volune and thickness
an illusion of a 3D object can be implied with the use of light and shading

necessary especially in presentations or documents that are more than one page

an area that attracts attention in a composition

BALANCE
brings together a composition with similar units; is the visually satisfying effect or combining similar or related elements
HARMONY
refers to the arrangement of opposite elements and effects
shows the difference between shapes and can be used as a background to bring objects out and forward in a design
can also be used to create an area of emphasis
CONTRAST
a visual flow through the composition
movement is the principle of good design which gives the artist control over what the viewer sees next
