incongruous defects: lesion of the optic tract
congruous defects: lesion of optic radiation or occipital cortex
macula sparing: occipital cortex

what does homonymous quadrantanopias indicate
A
superior: lesion of the inferior optic radiations in the temporal lobe (meyer’s loop)
inferior: lesion of the superior optic radiations in the parietal lobe

A
lesion of the optic chiasm
upper quadrant > lower = inferior chiasmal (commonly pituitary tumour)
lower quadrant > upper = superior chiasmal (crandiopharyngioma)
