What does visual field mean
It’s a representation of the total area in which objects can be seen in the periphery whilst focusing on a central point
Normal visual field degrees
- 60 degrees superior
- 75 degrees inferior
- 60 degrees nasal
- 100 degrees temporal
Blind spot?
Corresponds to the location of the optic nerve head in the retina
- centred slightly below the horizontal line
- 5.5m wide
-7.5m high
How is visual field produced?
Objects stimulating temporal Retina- in nasal visual field
Objects stimulating superior retina- in inferior nasal field
