Normal BSv Flashcards
What is visual perception?
The ability to receive, interpret and act upon visual stimuli
How do you process information?
It begins At the periphery →goes through visual pathway→ light hits retina→ info goes to optic nerve→ optic chasm→optic tracks → to the brain in the visual cortex
What Ave the elements you have to consider before the vision is processed in the visual Cortex?
- Colour of the object
-size of an object
-position
-Luminance
Explain localisation
- The position of an object is localised by directional value of the stimulated retinal elements
What is egocentric localisation?
Awareness of the spatial positions0 of objects with respect to ones body.
What are the directional value of retinal elements
Nasal, temporal, superior, interior
What is normal retinal correspondence?
Fovea of one eye will correspond with the foveae of the other eye
What is binocular vision?
The simultaneous perception of 2 images, one from each eye
What might you get of you don’t have BSv?
Double vision, suppression
What might you get of you don’t have BSv?
Double vision, suppression
How are we going to achieve BSV?
- info to the 2 eyes must be the same in clarity ,brightness and size to join this into one image.
-you need to have a clear cornea, clear retina and clear lens- these 3 ave known as Ocular media
What are the 3 grades of binocular vision?
- Simtualeous perception
- fusion
- stereopsis
What is simultaneous perception?
Brain sees image as one
What is sensory vision?
Two similar images with a slight difference, blended and seen as one.
What is motor fusion?
Maintaining the image as one while you moving your eyes together as a Pair
