Homicides:
-most common type: crime incident, robbery
-MALES more likely to be murdered at work
-FEMALES: murdered by a relative or domestic partner.

-taxicabs and chauffeurs greatest risk

-exchange of money with the public
-late at night, early morning
-high crime areas
-working in community
-working with criminal or unstable people
-mobile workplaces

2 types
1.QUID PRO QUO: doing sexual favors leads to employment-related outcomes (raises, promotion)
2. Hostile Work Environment: “sex related conduct creates an intimidating, hostile, offensive work environment, and unreasonably interferes with individuals work performance
consequences
-may not be able to go to work:
—be injured and receiving medical care
—may be fearful and scared to return
—extensive cost to family for workplace homicide
Responses:-environmental design
:make workplace more secure and less attractive target
-better lighting, security cameras
responses: organizational and administrative controls
-strategies and admins, agencies can do to reduce risk
-training, banning work alone, access to psychologists, counseling and other services
responses: behavior strategies
-actions workers can take to reduce their risk
-training in nonviolent responses and conflict resolution, training on how to respond to violence and resist robbery
legislation
