6
Q

What happens if the Steriocilia move towards the Kinoclium ?

A

The number of AP’s sent along the nerve increases and this causes depolarisation.

8
Q

What does backwards tilting of the head result in ?

A

The Otoliths move the Otolith membrane which causes the Steriocilia to move towards the Kinocilium and cause discharge.

13
Q

What do Vestibulo-Occular reflexes do ?

A

14
Q

How does the Vestibular system affect eye movement ?

A
  • Intortion and extortion of the eyes as you move/tilt the head
  • Nystagmus when your eyes move against the direction of rotation. You get right nystagmus when rotating to the RHS.

Q

Kinetosis

A

Motion sickness, the visual and vestibular system are in conflict. the Cerebellum send a signal to the Hypothalamus to bring about ANS changes.
