State and explain the reference systems for DP vessels.
- tault wire: lateral movement detected by sensor head on boom. Depressor weight on seabed. The deeper the water the greater the operating radius of the vessel.
- Artemis: the mobile antenna is on the vessel & the fixed antenna is on the jacket, shore, fixed location
- acoustic: transducer under the ship and a transponder on seabed.
- satellites DGPS

- Tault wire: if the wire is not kept in straight line, shallow water or fouled in/on structure. Max usual deflection 15°. All equipment should be clear of wires, min of 5m above & 10m to side of any subsea structure.
- Artemis: blockage of the signal
- Acoustic: deeper the water, longer takes to react. Maybe out of range. Water jet aeration affects.
