Verses Flashcards
Psalm 23:1-6
1The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
4Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

1 Corinthians 2:14-16
Hint: The person w/o the Spirit vs The person with the Spirit
14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. - 1 Corinthians 2:14-16
Matthew 6:7-15 Hint: And when you pray…
7“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9“This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ’
14For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Matthew 28:18-20 ( 28 The Great Commission)
18“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Romans 11:33-34 NIV
33 “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?””
Romans 11:33-34 NIV
Commentary:
“Don’t let the Enemy tempt you to become silently cynical about God’s willingness and ability to answer. Let a love for God cause you to a prevail in prayer to Him who loves you, even when His judgments are unsearchable and His ways past tracing out (Romans 11:33).”

Matthew 18:19-20 Hint: For where 2 or 3 gather
19 ““Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.””
Psalm 46:1-3
1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way 2 and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam 3 and the mountains quake with their surging.
Psalms 37:4
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Worship is a way of gladly reflecting back to God the gradients of His worth. This cannot be done by mere acts of duty. It can be done only when spontaneous infections arise in the heart.
Consider the analogy of a wedding anniversary. …Supposed on this day I bring home a dozen long stem roses for Noel. When I she meets me at the door, I hold out the roses, and she says, “oh, Johnny, they’re beautiful, thank you.” and gives me a big hug. Then Suppose I hold up my hand and say matter-of-factly, “don’t mention it. it’s my duty.” - For the purpose of godliness I don’t Donald S Whitney, page 90.
The real duty of worship is not the outward duty to say, or do a liturgy. It is the inward duty, the command – “delight yourself in the Lord!“ - For the purpose of godliness - Donald S Whitney, page 90.
Psalms 37:5-6
Key words: Commit, trust, righteous reward, vindication
“5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.”
Psalms 37:5-6 NIV
Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” - Revelation 1:8
2023/08/13 If loving God causes us to worship, which in turn leads us to become more like God; then worship begins and ends with God. Maybe that’s why God is referred to as the beginning, and the end in scripture. God, after all is the one who causes us to seek him, and also the one who is sought after. This entire conversation reminds me of the question: which came first, the chicken or the egg? In the biblical sense, the answer is: both because God is both the seeker, and the sought after.
1 John 4:19 NIV
“We love because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19 NIV
Romans 5:1-8
“1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
6 “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:1-8 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/rom.5.2.NIV
Romans 8:5-8
“5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.”
Romans 8:5-8 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/rom.8.1-8.NIV
Romans 8:1-4 NIV
“1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
