Clear and obvious signs of death; decomposition, rigor mortis or decapitation or
all clinical criteria below are met:
1. must be NO signs of breathing for one minute
2. no palpable central pulse
3. no audible heart sounds
4. pupils must be dilated and unreactive to light

After 10 mins all of the above must be repeated and a 3 lead ECG to show asystole.

a. slow broad complexes - need to wait for asystole
b. pacemaker might have electrial activity
