Venues and live performance Flashcards
What does a promoter do?
Promote and organise shows as well as booking artists via the media and by putting up posters/handing out flyers in the local area.
Work with the artist to make sure all their needs are covered (PA, effects).
What are some health and safety measures a venue must take in order to make it safe for artists and attendees?
Have trained first-aid staff
Put up no smoking signs
Must have legal strobe lighting
Lots of fire exits so there is easier access in the event of a fire
Security in front of the stage so the crowd can’t disrupt a performance.
Don’t overcrowd the venue otherwise people may get hurt by being trampled or squashed.
Have bouncers to guard the doors and deal with incidents to keep the event safe for attendees and performers.
Wires taped down with white tape to avoid people tripping over them and it reduces the risk of injury.
