what are VSDs associated with?
A
chromosomal disorders (e.g. down’s syndrome, edward’s syndrome, patau syndrome) and single gene disorders.

what causes VSD?
A
failure of the endocardial cushions to develop properly

what are the clinical features of VSD?
A
classically a pan-systolic murmur which is louder in smaller defects

what complications arise from VSD?
A
aortic regurgitation, infective endocarditis, eisenmenger’s complex, right heart failure and pulmonary hypertensions.
