What is the correct way in which vehicles are grouped?
From group 1-50. 1 being lowest risk and 50 the highest.
Why is engine size a critical rating factor?
The higher the engine size, the higher the premium.
How is engine size measured?
In Cubic Capacity (CC) or litres.
Is the premium cheaper in an older or a newer car? Why?
Older because it costs less to repair them than the newer ones.
What is the purchase date?
The date the customer bought the car OR if the date the customer took ownership of the car.
Why is purchase date important?
It indicates how experienced the customer is at driving this particular vehicle.
What is considered a modification?
Any change made to the car from standard manufacture.
What kind of modifications affect the premium?
Performance enhancing ones. Cosmetic extras do not add extra to the premium.
What are cosmetic modifications?
Modifications enhancing the appearance of the car.
What are performance enhancing modifications?
Anything that enhances the handling or speed of the car.
Which modifications need to be disclosed?
All of them but only performance enhancing affect the premium.
What do you need to do if the system gives a refer status due to a modification?
Contact IMS and look at their intranet for details they need.
When do you need to contact IMS about modifications?
if the system gives a refer status due to one or if the car has more than 3 modifications.
When do modifications not affect the premium?
When they are done due to a disability.
