Boreal and Taiga
-Largest veg region
-Dominated by coniferous forest
Grasslands
-Southern prairies where it is too dry for trees.
-Grasses help to create thick dark humus and topsoils good for agriculture
Deciduous forest
-Smallest vegetation region
-Southwestern Ontario
-Most of the forest has been removed over the yearrs for agricultural use.
Mixed forest
-Our vegetation region
-Transition zone between the boreal and decideous forests.
-Good soils for farming
Cordilleran vegetation
-vegetation varies because of differing temperature, precipitation amounts and soil composition
Tundra
Cold and dry climate means only plant species that grow close to the ground can survive.
West coast forest
Large amounts of precipitation and warm temperatures provide ideal growing conditions for forests.
