Types of land uses (Residential)
-Majority of a typical Canadian community
-Includes low, medium, and high density housing
-Ex, across york region
Transportation
-Designated for roads, public transit, and parking
-Ex. Roads, Train tracks, Airports
Institutional
-Used for public facilities
-Used for government, education, healthcare, etc
Open and Green Space
-Land set aside for recreation and conservation
-Ex. Richmond Green facilities ( conservation area located behind Bayview)
Industrial
-Land use for manufacturing
-As well as development for processing, warehousi;g, and storage
-Ex. York Region close to highways 400, 404,407
Commercial
-Includes any development for retail,Service, or office use.
Urban sprawl
As community population increases, land use expands outwards
-Usually into productive agricultural land
Dispersed
Group of people spread out over an area
Dispersed

Lineae
People live along a line-like feature such as a road, river, etc
Concentrated
-Large amount of people live closely together in a smaller area.
