Q

what is subtractive eq

A

Subtractive eq is removing problematic eq 1: keep it narrow 2: take just enough out to remove the problem.

Q

what is frequency

A

music is made up of sounds that are generated by waveforms whose frequency is expressed in Hertz (Hz).

Q

what is Q/ BANDWIDTH

A

The number of octaves (or fractions of an octave) over which the signal is affected by boosting or cutting.

6
Q

what is compression

A

THRESHOLD Is the point in which the compression actually starts
compression is used to boost the lower sounds, but it eliminates higher sounds when that is done so, make up gain is used to boost the lower sounds back up.

Q

what is sample rate

A

same as frame rate high or lower frame rate = quality of video but with hrz
high the hrz the better the audio quality.

Q

what is bit rate

A

-is increments values from 0 to max volume high bit rate high dynamic range it can show.
-If you have conflicting sample rates it will conflict with one another and can turn down or speed up the audio file

Q

what is loss-less and lossy files

A

Loss-less is, at least CD quality (loses quality) or up or like using a zip file. You cant un-compress a loss less file. Will take up more room. Lossy file still has the data but dose not cut out all frequency

Q

what are the fades?

A

fade in, out and cross-fade

16
Q

what is clipping

A

anything above 0 db which can cause distortion

17
Q

what is signal path

A

is the process to where everything goes through, the path that it takes from audio to ear
