Vasomotor control Flashcards
what does the vasomotor control centre do
regulates the redistribution of blood
what type of control is the Vasomotor
neural - receptors used
how does the VCC regulate vascular shunting
chemo receptors detect chemical changes in the blood through an increase in carbonic acid (co2 in the blood) and lactic acid.
baroreceptors pick up the changes in systolic blood pressure
they send this information to the VCC in the medulla oblongata.
the VCC stimulates the muscular layer of the arterioles via the sympathetic nerve which causes vasoconstriction towards the NEO, which increases blood pressure to the working muscles. this neural control also dictates whether the pre capillary sphincters open or close.
