Sodium nitroprusside - indications and adm
Hypertensive emergencies (IV infusion)
Nitroprusside - metabolites
Cyanide and thiocyanate.
Nitroprusside - adverse effects
Dizziness, headache, increased intracranial pressure, methemoglobinemia, thiocyanate and cyanide toxicity.
Fenoldopam - indications and adm
Hypertensive emergencies (IV)
Fenoldopam - MOA
Activates D1 receptors, causing vasodilation. In kidney: dilation in both afferent and efferent arterioles, causing increased renal blood flow.
Fenoldopam - adverse effects
Headache and nausea, reduced serum potassium
