Vasculature Flashcards
Lymphatic drainage of the breast
Subareolar lymphatic plexus: axillary lymph nodes, parasternal lymph nodes, and the abdominal lymph nodes
Venous drainage of the breast
Axillary vein and internal thoracic vein
What are the three arteries of the thoracic wall?
Thoracic aorta, subclavian artery, and axillary artery
What are the three branches of the internal thoracic artery (branch of the subclavian artery)?
Anterior intercostal artery, superior epigastric artery, and musculophrenic artery
What are two branches of the thoracic aorta?
Posterior intercostal artery and bronchial artery
Which side of the body is the azygous vein?
Right
Which side of the body is the hemiazygous vein?
Left (sits under the aorta)
What are the three branches of the celiac trunk?
Left gastric artery, splenic artery, and common hepatic artery
What are the three arteries that supply the superior part of the diaphragm?
Pericardiophrenic, muscoluphrenic, and superior phrenic arteries
What artery supplies the inferior part of the diaphragm?
Inferior phrenic artery
What are three branches off of the common hepatic artery?
Right gastric, gastroduodenal, and proper hepatic arteries
What side of the body is the thoracic duct on?
Right
What are the two main drainage systems?
- Thoracic duct - RLQ, LUG, LLQ
2. Right lymphatic duct - RUQ
What do the thoracic duct and right lymphatic duct drain into?
Left and right subclavian veins back to the RA of the heart
The azygous and hemiazygous veins are branches of what vein?
Common iliac vein
