Q

What is the Buerger’s test?

A

Ask pt to lift leg at 15 degrees and hold for a while
Keep lifting leg until the colour drains
Then bring leg around edge of bed and see and see how long it takes to return the leg to the normal colour

Q

What sign might you see in Buerger’s test and what does it suggest?

8
Q

Downside of ABPI

A

If your arteries calcify, this might skew the BP reading in the ankle and arm

Q

What is the syndrome of abdo aorta blockage?

A

Reduced pulses

17
Q

What is acute limb ischemia

A

Sudden lack of blood flow to limb

Caused by embolus or thrombus

18
Q

When does the pain occur in acute limb ischaemia?

A

Pain at rest

19
Q

What causes acute limb iscshemia?

A

Thrombus
Embolus (from the heart)
Trauma

20
Q

What is critical limb ischemia

A

Chronic
Alleviated by standing
<2 weeks needing opiates
