What are the common examination findings?
A
Clear varicose veins
Chronic effects:
- Venous eczema
- Haemosiderin deposit
- Lipodermatosclerosis
- Onychogryphosis
- Venous eczema (medial malleolar reason)

What are the investigations?
A
To finish the exam i would like to - ABPI and CV/PAD exam
By the bed - History and obs.
Bloods - FBC, glucose, lipid profile, U/E
other - Doppler and refer for surgery

A
Depends on cause

What is the treatment?
A
Conservative - Explain what they are
Medical - compression bandages, management of symptoms
Surgical - Refer for venography

What are the common causes?
A
Primary:
- Idiopathic
- Congenital
Secondary:
Anything obstructing flow:
- Obesity, valvular imcompetence, pregnancy, pelvic neoplasm
