What are the common examination findings?
Ulcers in pressure areas of foot:
Associated with diabetes
Painless, punched out ulcers
What are the investigations?
To finish the exam i would like to - ABPI and CV and neuro exam
By the bed - History and obs.
Bloods - FBC, glucose, lipid profile, U/E
other - ECG for CV disease, Doppler and refer for surgery, swabs
What are the key investigation findings?
Depends on cause
Likely to show diabetes
What is the treatment?
Conservative - Explain what they are and why they have them.
MDT approach - Podiatrist, diabetologist, nurse, GP
Medical - Manage DM and risk factors for arterial disease eg statins, blood thinners, DM medication
Surgical - Debridement, amputation, arerial bypass
What are the common causes?
