- Aching muscles
- Loss of appetite
- Sometimes there may be a feeling of nausea
its severity varies considerably. Some patients may have just a few spots, while others are covered all over the body.

10 days
More severe S/S
- The skin around the spots and/or blisters becomes painful and red
- There are breathing difficulties
MOT
- direct contact with patients who schd the virus from the vesicles
- indirect contact, through lines or formites
- airborne, and spread by droplet infection.
INCUBATION PERIOD
14-16DAYS
DIAGNOSTIC TEST
Determination of V-Z virus though
- Complement Fixation Test
- Electron Microscopic examination of vesicular fluid
NURSING MANAGEMENT:
- Respiratory isolation is a must until all vesicles have crust.
- Prevent secondary infection of the skin lesion through hygienic care of the patient •Attention should be given to nasopharyngeal secretions and discharges.
- Lines must be disinfected under the sunlight or through boiling.
- Cut fingernails and wash hands
- A child must wear mitten
- Provide activities to keep child occupied to lessen pruritus
- Observe oral and nasal care as rash may appear at the buccal cavity
