Talk about how Paul Gauguin influences can goghs work

A

Paul Gauguin was a close friend of van goghs, Gauguin joined Van Gogh in Arles in 1888. Gauguin and Van Gogh has similar motivations when producing artwork, they wanted to find emotion and beauty in the objects that they painted. They worked closely together and were inspired by each other’s use of textures, marks and colours

Van goghs paintings usually consist of things such as flowers and fruit as he didn’t have much money l, he would paint things that were cheap and he had easy access t, he painted flowers a lot as he used his artwork to decorate his house when his friend Paul Gauguin was coming over

Van Gogh struggled with his mental health his whole life, however he found peace while he was creating artwork. The thick and busy brushstrokes that Van Gogh uses in his paintings show us his frenzied approach to painting

Talk about how Jute canvas influenced van goghs work

A

During van goghs time in Arles he made his canvas out of very rough, thick and textured fabric. This indoor him because he was forced to use very thick impasto style layers of paint in order to build up the image l. Van Gogh also enjoyed the effect that the pint had when applied in a think impasto style

A

After Van Gogh mother to Arles in 1888 he realised that he found Paris very grey and boringly and realised that he much preferred the bright colours of the countryside. He discovered new lighting, natural landscapes, endless textures and colours that inspired his artwork. He then went on to produce hundreds of artworks at this time inspired by the new environment
