Describe internal validity
issues within th
Describe face validity
this relies on personal judgment
at face value does it actually measure what it says it is
Describe construct validity
whether a measure is based on some certain-to-exist phenomenon, which it is testing
Describe concurrent validity
how well a particular test correlates with a previously validated measure
Describe criterion validity
how much one predicts the value of another
Describe external validity
issues beyond the experiment ie ecological and population
Describe population validity
when the sample is representative of the target population, the more representative the more generalisable the results are
Describe ecological validity
to what extent the results can be generalised to behaviour in everyday life
give the definition of validity
refers to the extent to which the changes observed in the DV are caused by the IV
describe mundane realism
how similar the task and situation is to real life
describe experimental realism
how affected the participant is by the experimental situation
what factors should be considered when looking at population validity?
