validity Flashcards
1
Q
define validity
A
Whether something is true (measures what it sets out to measure)
2
Q
what is internal validity?
A
- The extent to which a test is consistent within itself, such as whether the different questions are all measuring the same thing
Factors that affect internal validity:
- Participant variables
- Lack of experimental control
- Situational variables
- Researcher bias
3
Q
what are the different types of internal validity?
A
- CONTENT = he extent to which the questions/measurements in the study measure what we think we are measuring rather than some other factors
- FACE = Simple way of assessing whether a test measures what it claims to measure which is concerned with face value
- SPLIT HALF METHOD = comparing two halves of a test
