Validity Flashcards
Face validity
assessing whether or not something measures what it claims to measure, which is concerned with its face value
Concurrent validity
involves comparing a new test with an existing test to see if they produce similar results. If they do, the new test is said to have concurrent validity
Prediction validity
This is the degree to which a test accurately predicts a criterion that will occur in the future
construct validity
he extent to which a test captures a specific theoretical construct or trait, and it overlaps with some of the other aspects of validity
Internal validity
whether the effects observed in a study are due to the manipulation of the independent variable and not some other factor
External validity
refers to the extent to which the results of a study can be generalized to other settings (ecological validity), other people (population validity) and over time (historical validity)
