Accuracy and whether observer effect is genuine

Could be accurately generalise

Can findings be generalised to other settings and situations

Temporal validity are findings generalisable to other points in time
Confounding variables
Affect DV, affects everyone in the same way

Nuisance variables and random error

Hawthorne effect
The added attention of being in a study affects ps behaviour eg they may be shy or show off
Demand characteristics
Cues from situation help p work our the aim of the study leading them to change their behaviour
Social desireability
Ps try to look good by answering/ behaving in a socially acceptable way
Experimenter effects
Effects reuniting from investigators conscious or unconscious actions
Green spoon effect
When the interviewer makes affirmative noises eg mmmmmm making the p think their answer will be good
Experimenter bias
Experimenter influences rhe results eg body language or tone of voice
