Reliability Flashcards
Reliability over time
Refers to if tests were repeated, would there be similar results
Reliability in design
Refers to standardised procedure and instruction
Inter rated reliability
Reliability between observers happens when behaviour is quantified in the same way
Two ways of checking for reliability
Test-retest and inter rated reliability
Test retest
Measure strength of similarity in scores. Correlation of +0.80 suggests good reliability
Improving reliability in a questionnaire
Closed/ clear worded questions so everyone understands it in the same way meaning it’s easier to analyse
Improving reliability in interviews
Structured questions, training interviewers
Improving reliability in experiment
Lab experiment, control over variables, standardised instructions and procedure
Improving reliability in observation
Train observers to know different behavioural categories
