What two vaccines are only given to ‘at risk’ children?
BCG (i.e. where incidence is greater than 40 per 100,000)
hep B has now been changed to a routine vaccine (august 17).
What vaccines do children receive at 2 months?
6 in 1 vaccine
Meningococcal B
Pneumoccoal
and rotavirus
What vaccines do children receive at 3 months?
6 in 1 vaccine - 2nd dose
Rotavirus 2nd dose
At what age is the first MMR vaccine given?
12-13 months
When should the flu vaccine be given over the flu spray?
In at risk children - then should use the inactivated flu vaccine
What children are being offered the flu vaccine?
children aged 2- 8 years
At what age is the meningococcal ACWY offered?
Age 13-15 years
and if <25 years, entering university and at risk of disease
What vaccines should pregnant women receive?
Pertussis, polio and tetnas at 16 weeks.
Also flu vaccine
What age is the pneuococcal vaccine given?
65 years and over. Only need the vaccine once (not every year like the flu)
What age is the varicella zoster vaccine given?
70 years
How many MMR vaccines should children be given?
2 doses
Almost all childhood meningococcal disease in the UK is caused by what?
Neisseria meningitidis
What does the rotavirus protect against?
Protects against gastroenteritis caused by the rotavirus.
Which vaccination should you advise paracetamol routinely?
Men B vaccine - associated with high incidence of fever so routinely advise.
For all other vaccines only give if fever associated with distress.
