Weakened, replicates natural infection, longer lasting immunity, may pass to close contacts- do not use in immunocompromised

Inactivated vaccine- characteristics
Doesn’t produce disease, safe to host and contacts, boosters needed for long term immunity, no mucosal IgA
Vaccine- Adverse reactions- common
Redness, low grade fever, fainting, HA, fussiness
Vaccine- Adverse reactions- - moderate
seizures
Vaccine- Adverse reactions- severe
allergic rxn, deafness, permanent brain damage (MMR)
Recommended travel immies
1) Routine- childhood immies.
2) Required- yellow fever & menigicoccal meningitis
3) Recommended- Hep A & B, Typhoid, cholera, polio, jap. encephalitis, rabies,
