describe the process of vaccination
A
- the vaccination injects a small amount of dead or inactive forms of the pathogen into the body
- stimulates white blood cells as they recognise foreign antigens so produce antibodies
- if it re-enters memory cells produce the antibodies rapidly, preventing illness and making you immune

when a high proportion of the population are vaccinated (immune) to a disease so the spread of it will be limited

-eradicated many diseases and reduced occurrence of many
-prevent epidemics due to herd immunity as it is unlikely to catch it if most people are immune
