Uvea: Choroiditis Flashcards
1
Q
Name the white dot syndromes of chorioretinitis?
A
o Multiple Evanescent White Dot Syndrome (MEWDS)
o Acute Posterior Mulifocal Placoid Pigment Epitheliopathy (APMPPE)
o Birdshot chorioretinopathy
o Punctate inner chorioretinopathy (PIC)
o Multifocal choroiditis
o Serpiginous Choroidopathy
2
Q
Describe Birdshot Chorioretinopathy?
A
- Uncommon idiopathic bilateral disease
- Commonly affects middle aged women
- HLA-A29 association
- Gradual loss of vision
- Photopsia
- VF loss
- Vitritis (mild)
3
Q
Describe punctate inner chorioretinopathy (PIC)?
A
- Typically affects young myopic females
- Often preceded by a viral illness
- Flickering lights
- Blurred vision
- Doesn’t necessarily have pain and eyes may not be red
- Lesions which are well-defined are less active
4
Q
Describe multifocal choroiditis?
A
- Uncommon bilateral posterior/panuveitis
- Acute Anterior Uveitis (AAU) in 50%
- Vitritis common
- Chorioretinal lesions – lots of small lesions dispersed throughout retina in both eyes
- Active inflammation have fluffy edges whereas inactive inflammation have marked well-defined edges
