What are the screening guidelines for breast cancer?
40-49, based on risk factors and SDM
50-74, screening mammogram every 2 years
What are the screening guidelines for cervical cancer?
21-65, pap smear every 3 years OR
30-65, hrHPV test or cotesting every 5 years
What are screening guidelines for lung cancer?
Annual screen with low-dose CT for pts 50-80 with 30 year pack history or quit smoking in the last 15 years.
Would you screen someone for cervical cancer if they had a total hysterectomy?
No (if no hx of precancer or cervical cancer)
What are the screening guidelines for prostate cancer?
Annually from 55 to 69 years.
PSA screening is individualized
>/= 70 years recommended AGAINST.
What are the screening guidelines for testicular cancer?
Screening not recommended
What are the screening guidelines for colorectal cancer?
Age 50 to 75 with:
High sensitivity fecal occult blood (FOBT/FIT) yearly
Cologuard (SDNA) every 1-3 years (if +, must do colonoscopy)
Sigmoidoscopy every 5 years
Colonoscopy every 10 years
76-85 years, individualize
What are screening guidelines for skin cancer?
Insufficient evidence on screening.
Educate fair-skinned persons to avoid sunlight (10AM to 3PM) and use sunblock >/= SPF 15
What are guidelines for tobacco smoking?
Ask about use
Advise to stop
Provide behavioral interventions or pharmacotherapy (if not pregnant) for smoking cessation
What are screening guidelines for fall prevention in community-swelling older adults?
Start at adults >/= 65 years
Exercise interventions to prevent falls in adults with increased risk.
Against vit D supplementation
What are screening guidelines for ovarian cancer?
Screening not recommended
High risk (BRCA mutation, family hx of breast/ovarian CA) are screened by specialist, refer to genetic counseling
What are screening guidelines for abdominal aortic aneurysm?
One time abdominal ultrasound for men aged 65-75 years who smoke cigarettes or those who have quit
What are the screening guidelines for oral cancer?
Screening not recommended
What are the screening guidelines for major depressive disorder?
Start screening between 12-18 years.
(d/t risk of suicide)

One time screen between ages 18-79

One time screen between ages 15-64. Screen more often for those at increased risk.
For pregnancy, screen if HIV status unknown.

Yes

Screening not recommended
What are the recommendations for syphilis screening in asymptomatic adults/adolescents and pregnant patients?
Screen people at increased risk of infection, annually for HIV infected patients.
Pregnancy - early screening for all pregnant patients
What are the recommendations for osteoporosis screening?
Start at age 65 or older
May start earlier if pt has risk factors (postmenopausal, long-term steroid tx, etc.)
What are the USPSTF guidelines for initiation of aspirin to prevent CVD and CRC?
Start low-dose aspirin therapy between ages 50-59 for pts at ASCVD risk of >/=10%
What are the guidelines for total lipid screening?
Fasting (9 hrs) total lipid profile for adults between 40-75 yrs
What are the guidelines to start low-to-moderate-dose statin therapy for someone w/out a hx of CVD?
-Age 40 to 75
-Has one or more CVD risk factor (DM, HTN, dyslipidemia, smoking)
-10 yr risk calculation of >/=10%
