Using Water Flashcards
How to make a solution
Solute plus solvent
What happens when something dissolves
It stays on the mixture it don’t go away
Satuated
It contains as much dissolved solid as it possibly can
Mixture
When different things are jumbled up
Why can’t filtering separate a solvent and a solute
In a solvent the partials are held together in a fixed arrangement when the solution is added the partials become further apart the partials in the solution are to small to be caught in the filter paper
What happens to partials when a solid dissolves
The partials become further away from each other
What is a saturated solution
When no more sugar will dissolve and there are crystals left at the Bottom
How do u find out how much salt is in water
By heating the salt water the water will evaporate and leave behind the salt
How can salt be obtained from the sea or mines
By pumping water it to the ground the water dissolves the salt-mines
Heat/evaporation-sea
How can things be separated
Chromatography
Evaporate
Distillation
What is pure water
It is water that contains nothing but water
How to distill water
The process of separating a solvent from solutes by evaporation the solvent and then condensing it
Why does distillation produce pure water
Because it burns out all the chemicals
